We believe in the urgency of building a healthier democracy
Our Story
Millions of Conversations envisions a future where every American feels safe and free to be themselves.
Inspired by the principles of Truth and Reconciliation, our mission is rooted in a deep commitment to bridge divides, foster dialogue, and build collective understanding. Through years of research, lived experience, and global expertise, we’ve developed a strategic theory of change that combines national media engagement with grassroots organizing. This approach enables us to build peace, resolve conflict, heal divides, and strengthen democracy across America.
Headquartered in the Southern heartland, Nashville, Tennessee, Millions of Conversations works to expose and counter currents of mis- and disinformation that drive fear, hate, and violence. We challenge harmful narratives that stigmatize, dehumanize, or divide. Instead, we uplift shared values, disrupt intolerance before it takes root, and help communities heal so that all Americans may experience a sense of belonging.
Our work is brought to life through a dynamic ecosystem of partners, foundational research on resonant messaging and messengers, bold media campaigns, and interactive programs rooted in MoC’s Steps to Sustainable Peace.
And it all begins with a simple, powerful act: The Pledge to Listen. We invite every American, regardless of background or belief, to take this first step with us. The Pledge is a commitment to hear others with empathy, engage across differences, and create space for real, human connection. It’s how we start millions of conversations that lead to peace.
